by Peter Smith covering all aspects of the Stamps and Postal History of Egypt, generally considered as his magnum opus. Ever since its
publication, the handbook has become a classic reference on the Stamps and Postal History of Egypt. An excellent review of the book by
Michael O. Nowlan can be read in scans 4 and 5. A magnificent handbook, published in a limited edition, very scarce and sought after. In
perfect condition
1992-2003 Putzel, Ralph F. - THE POSTMARKS OF SOUTH AFRICA - VOLUMES 1-10 (ALPHABET A-Z) - THE COMPLETE SET.
Published between 1992 and 2003 by Ralph Putzel and Alex Visser, Tokai (Cape). Hardbound volumes in dustwrapper.
Generally considered as the magnum opus by Ralph Putzel and described as the bible on the Postmarks of South Africa. The 10 volumes
were published in limited editions of 225 copies for Volume 1 and 250 for Volumes 2-10, all numbered (except vol. 7). Volumes 8-10 were
written in collaboration with Alex Visser, who finished the last volume after the death of Ralph Putzel in 2002. A monumental publication,
without doubt the major reference work on the Postmarks of South Africa, providing a wealth of information and profusely illustrated.
Because of the limited editions the handbooks have become scarce, the complete set is rarely offered and sought after. Volumes 1-6 are
signed by Ralph Putzler, Volume 8 by Alex Visser. All volumes in very fine condition, with only light wear to the dust wrappers.
