Po Mnichovské dohodě dne 2. 10. 1938 překročila polská vojska řeku Olši a zabrala celý politický okres Fryštát, okres Jablunkov, část okresů Český Těšín a Frýdek. Celý zábor tzv. Zaolzie byl připojen ke Katowickému vojvodství.
