Generally considered as the magnum opus by Ralph Putzel and described as the bible on the Postmarks of South Africa. The 10 volumes
were published in limited editions of 225 copies for Volume 1 and 250 for Volumes 2-10, all numbered (except vol. 7). Volumes 8-10 were
written in collaboration with Alex Visser, who finished the last volume after the death of Ralph Putzel in 2002. A monumental publication,
without doubt the major reference work on the Postmarks of South Africa, providing a wealth of information and profusely illustrated.
Because of the limited editions the handbooks have become scarce, the complete set is rarely offered and sought after. Volumes 1-6 are
signed by Ralph Putzler, Volume 8 by Alex Visser. All volumes in very fine condition, with only light wear to the dust wrappers.
